Margaret Christian

Margaret Christian was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 24, 1931. She was introduced to art at Central High School also located in Cleveland and training ground for the poet, Langston Hughes. Margaret attended Fisk University ( 1949-1950) in Nashville, Tennessee and as an art major, studied under one of the leading Black Renaissance artists of our time, Aaron Douglas. Margaret began exhibiting her work at Cuyahoga Community College during her studies there (1968 – 1972). Margaret graduated from Oberlin College Oberlin, Ohio, having majored in sociology (1974). She also pursued post graduate work in sociology at Bowling Green University and Toledo University, both also in Ohio.
